What the heck is "flex coaching"?


These days, most coaches work with clients 1:1 over Zoom for about an hour, either weekly or every other week. Lots of time can be spent recapping what’s happened over the past week or two, rather than making forward progress on goals. 

Flex mobile coaching (a/k/a “asynchronous”) happens on YOUR schedule, to give you support when you most need it. 

We use an app called Voxer, which allows us to communicate as issues arise. It’s a lot like Facebook messenger, but better. All on your phone. 

You can leave me messages 24/7, without having to wait until our next appointment. 

All you do is (a) type a text; or (b) hit the orange button to use voice notes. Like this ⬇️

How does it work?

Choose a time for a 30-minute chat via phone or videoconference to see if it’s a good fit & discuss your goals. (No convincing or persuading here - that's not my jam.)

If we decide to move forward, you fill out an intake form.

We have a goal-setting session & create a plan.

You download Voxer (the free app) & we get started chatting. You send me texts or voice notes ANYTIME. I respond within 24-48 business hours. (Typically Monday & Tuesday afternoons, and Thursday mornings, with occasional variances.)

But will we make progress without seeing each other? 

Remember pre-2020, when we thought we HAD to be in an office, a classroom, or hotel conference room for certain experiences? Then we learned the power of virtual gatherings. 

Likewise, we’ve learned today that Zoom isn’t the only answer to stay connected across states/countries. 

A 60-minute teleconference doesn’t work for everyone’s learning style or processing style. With flex coaching, we’ll get laser focused on your goals & gently remove barriers in your way - - all on YOUR timeframe. 

Some clients have even said they can share more honestly + openly when they’re speaking into the phone, rather than looking someone in the eye. The opportunities for breakthroughs are exciting!

How will I know what to say on text/voice message?

It’s okay if you feel awkward at first. No worry! Here are some sample exchanges: 

  • You’ve talked to your partner but can’t seem to make progress. I share with you some conversation starters to get the process going without feeling like a nag. You share back how it went + we work on next steps.

  • You can’t picture things truly changing at home because your family is unmotivated & it’s hard to keep your boundaries. I’ll send you a worksheet to help you with communication tools and support your goals.

  • You feel like giving up & need a pep talk. I’m in your back pocket, with a message of encouragement.

  • You share with me one small step you made toward carving out time for yourself. I celebrate with you!!

This is literally why I created flex coaching! Even when life feels full, the everyday stuff continues in the background.

With flex coaching, you'll make progress on your goals without setting aside large chunks of time to be inside on the computer. 

What if I really feel like I need to see you?

No problem! Each 3-month client receives 90 minutes of Zoom time. (Typically we start off the coaching with a 45-minute zoom and you can choose when to use the other 45 minutes, in smaller increments if desired). 

For example: if there’s a trigger you can’t get past, we’ll jump on Zoom (even for 15 minutes) for me to guide you through some release exercises.
